Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas

Texas THON proudly supports Dell Children’s Medical Center, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

In the early 1980s, the pediatric medical community in Central Texas recognized the critical need for a single hospital dedicated to the care of children throughout the region.  To meet this need, the Children’s Hospital of Austin opened its doors on February 14, 1988. In 2005, in collaboration with the pediatric medical community, the Seton Family of Hospitals, the leading healthcare provider with more than 20 facilities in Central Texas, agreed that a new, larger children’s hospital was crucial to meet the demand of one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Dell Children’s Medical Center opened on June 30, 2007. Dell Children’s Medical Center is the only dedicated freestanding pediatric facility in the region.

Dell Children’s Medical Center is a world-class pediatric healthcare facility that serves families from over 46 counties in Central Texas. Children are cared for with a family-centered approach that keeps patients close to their loved ones at all times. The dedicated and talented multidisciplinary team of pediatric specialists and nurses are all committed to a single purpose: providing the best care possible.

Dell Children’s is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in Central Texas and one of 17 in the entire United States.  As a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, the hospital conducts vital research to improve treatment for pediatric trauma patients and to discover prevention methods.

Each year, Dell Children’s Medical Center treats more than 100,000 children, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Whether a child needs care for a broken bone, a terminal illness, or anything in between, Dell Children’s is committed to providing medical and emotional assistance to every child who enters its facilities. It’s for all of these reasons and more that we continue to support and fight for the patients and their families at Dell Children’s.
